Montgomery County OIC x DVA
FREE construction training is coming to Norristown.
Montgomery County OIC is now accepting applications for the Delaware Valley Alliance’s NCCER Core Pre-Apprenticeship program. Ten weeks of hands-on training, close to home.
No experience needed. No cost to you.
You’ll finish with an NCCER credential, a national record employers can look up and verify.
It is the first step into a career in the skilled trades.
Classes start this fall. Seats are limited.
THE VOLT VISIONARY PROGRAM: A FUTURE PROOF MODEL 💡
The Volt Visionary Program: Bridging the Digital Divide in Montgomery County
Launching this fall, the Volt Visionary Program (the “Program”) is a regional alignment initiative designed to rapidly transition individuals into the cloud-augmented workforce. The core mission is to bridge the digital divide in Montgomery County by equipping residents and local businesses with practical Generative AI (GenAI) and prompt engineering skills, turning entry-level candidates into tech-augmented professionals.
Year One Strategic Rollout
The inaugural year of the Program is dedicated to a phased pilot approach, tailoring high-yield technical training to distinct community cohorts:
Fall Pilot (Round One) – Youth Electrification Initiative: The Program launches by focusing on local middle schoolers, introducing opportunity youth to the rapidly growing field of electrification. This phase blends early technical exposure with generative AI technology skillsets to build a foundation for the future workforce.
Round Two – Enterprise Governance & Risk: In its second phase, the Program will pivot to engage local business leaders, equipping them with the critical GenAI governance, implementation, and risk frameworks required to securely adopt AI within their organizations.
Program Leadership
The Volt Visionary Program is guided by Dr. Veronis Lawyer, former Director of Education and Assessment, now serving as Program Advisor, also an advisor to the President over the past three years. The Program will be managed by Iva Ferrell, Esq./MBA, President and CEO of Montgomery County OIC and the Montgomery County OIC leadership team. With over 15 years of experience scaling tech-enabled training across the utilities, fintech, and non-profit sectors, Dr. Lawyer specializes in designing modern learning ecosystems powered by GenAI and gamification. As a certified prompt engineer, lifelong scholar, and author, her academic research in computational education and zero-shot prompting directly informs the program’s cutting-edge curriculum.
Methodology & Wrap-Around Support
Recognizing that structural and systemic barriers frequently prevent sustained engagement in traditional technical training, the Volt Visionary Program is built on a holistic support model.The initiative seamlessly blends technical instruction with an explicit, resource-backed wrap-around safety net managed by Montgomery County OIC. This partnership ensures that participants receive the comprehensive community support necessary to complete their training and successfully transition into the modern workforce.
About Dr. Lawyer
Dr. Veronis Lawyer brings over 15 years of leadership experience in scaling tech-enabled training across the fintech, utilities, tech, and non-profit sectors. As a strategic consultant, professor, and advisor, she specializes in architecting modern enterprise learning ecosystems powered by gamification and Generative AI.
A lifelong scholar and certified prompt engineer, Dr. Lawyer’s research and publications focus heavily on computational education and Gen-AI learning ecosystems. Her core academic interests explore semantics and Generative AI, specifically pattern recognition in few-shot and zero-shot prompting. She is a published author, and frequently co-authors literature on the intersection of artificial intelligence and organizational learning.
Dr. Lawyer holds a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Higher Education Leadership from Widener University, alongside a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Saint Joseph's University. Additionally, she holds a certificate in Business Leadership from The Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School.
